Course modules and teaching hours:
Module 1: (11 hours)
Patterns, cores, moulding methods, moulding sand and additives, sand testing, sand reclamation, foundry tools, sand compaction methods, mechanization of foundry, foundry layout, furnaces, melting and pouring practices
Module 2: (11 hours)
Materials and design of patterns, draft and tolerances, Chvorinove’s rule, design of feeding and gating system
Module 3: (11 hours)
Solidification of ingots and castings, casting defects, metallurgy of: cast iron, steel, and cast alloys of aluminium, copper, nickel
Module 4: (5 hours)
